America's reliance on oil hit a major speed bump in the early 70s, when an oil embargo limited access to gasoline. Out of that crisis, in 1980, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) was formed.
Today, the DC-based organization's mission has evolved to focus on developing transformative policies to reduce energy waste and combat climate change. The nonprofit aims to develop an economy that uses energy more productively, reduces costs, protects the environment, and promotes the health, safety, and well-being of everyone.
For WattSherpa's first podcast, I was thrilled to interview Dr. Reuven Sussman, Director, Behavior & Human Dimensions Program at the ACEEE. Dr. Sussman conducts research on energy efficiency behavior change and also co-chairs the annual conference on Behavior, Energy and Climate Change (BECC).
Please enjoy the conversation with Dr. Sussman, who helps explain the psychology behind behavioral changes that can help save our environment.
