In April 2024, I presented my CrushCarbon Challenge project at the Bedford 2030 Greenlight Awards along with many great student projects.
The Greenlight Awards are a Leadership & Innovation High School Contest to Catalyze Change. Since 2015, over 500 students from 15 different Westchester high schools and community groups have been inspired to take action in their communities with support from the Greenlight Award Program.
The project came in first place thanks to the incredible support of many stakeholders, including Lauren Brois and Carmelina Albanese from Sustainable Westchester and my fellow representatives from the Westchester Youth Congress.
Please check out my presentation, which aims to recruit families and businesses to the GridRewards program to reduce the use of peaker plants, reducing carbon emissions and helping those in our community who live in environmental justice zones.
